The AIADMK workers were seen making attempts to take control of a crisis over who will be the party's chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Soon after the Independence Day celebration on Saturday, 10 senior ministers led by Minister Jayakumar held an urgent meeting at the state secretariat. All of them were seen heading to Deputy CM O Paneerselvam's residence in Greenways road after the meeting on Saturday.
According to sources, there were two important agendas up for discussion - whether or not to contest Assembly polls in alliance with the BJP and the decision on AIADMK's chief ministerial face.
The 10 ministers had a tough day going back and forth from OPS' residence to EPS' residence and then again back to OPS's residence. Party cadre even mobilised outside the CM and Deputy CM's residences and raised slogans in support of their respective leaders.
