Mumbai: 1,500 Aarey trees axed despite massive protests, 29 arrested

Even as the Mumbaikars protested against the felling of trees in Aarey, hundreds of trees were cut to pave way for a metro shed. The development happened after the Bombay High Court dismissed the plea against the BMC tree authority's decision allowing felling of over 2,600 trees to pave way for a metro car shed.

Clashes broke out between the police and green activists who tried to stop tree cutting by MMRCL in Aarey Colony. A total of 29 protesters have been arrested by the Mumbai Police. Watch the video for more.
