Kochi: Customs Department grills Kerala minister KT Jaleel

The Customs Department is grilling Kerala minister KT Jaleel in connection with accepting consignments of the Holy Quran from UAE for personal use through diplomatic channel.

Officials have called it a case of violation of Customs Act as the state government officials accepted those items brought by the diplomats for their personal use by availing tax exemption certificate. A total of 250 packages of Qurans were imported from UAE which were then distributed across the state.

He was earlier questioned by the ED and NIA in the gold smuggling case.
