Jadavpur University students protest against chief minister's stand on student bodies

Kolkata's Jadavpur University has once again been rocked by students agitation with Vice Chancellor Suranjan Das being holed up in his office since Thursday afternoon.

Students have undertaken a sit-down demonstration right outside the VC's office opposing the state government's decision to do away with elected students body on the campus.

In a bid to de-politicise education campuses in the state, the Mamata Banerjee administration has decided to set up apolitical students' union in all state-run institutes.
