Farooq Abdullah named chief of People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration

The Gupkar Alliance, which is an amalgam of J&K mainstream political parties seeking restoration of Article 370, held its second meeting today after forming the alliance in Srinagar.

The alliance named Farooq Abdullah as its chief and Mehbooba Mufti as the vice president while Sajad Lone will be the spokesman.

The Gupkar Declaration alliance also adopted the flag of the erstwhile state of J&K as its symbol and appointed J&K People's Conference leader Sajjad Lone as its spokesperson. The move is being perceived as an attempt to give a formal structure to the alliance.
