Heavy security in Rohtak ahead of Dera chief's sentencing

Security has been beefed up in and around Rohtak where Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is jailed. He is lodged in Rohtak jail after being convicted in a rape case.

"Nothing untoward will happen. We have put in place a multi-layered arrangement in Rohtak district. We have taken precautions to make sure that there is no built-up of mob or crowds. Our prime focus would be to ensure that no crowd gathers here in violation of sec 144," Navdeep Singh Virk, Inspector General (IG), Rohtak told India Today.

1500 police personnel from Rohtak district police, around 500 from the adjoining districts and 23 paramilitary companies provided by the central government have been deployed ahead of the verdict.
