Assam flood: 81 dead, over 36 lakh people affected; PM Modi assures help to CM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday assured all support to Assam in dealing with the flood havoc, which has claimed 81 lives and affected over 36 lakh people. PM Narendra Modi spoke with Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal about the flood situation in the state and expressed solidarity with the people.

47,465 people are taking shelter in around 219 relief camps. Meanwhile, flood water is receding in upper districts of Assam while situation is still grim in low-lying districts.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has also asked all ministers of the state government, MLAs to help the flood-affected people in their respective districts.
