12 in week, 77 in month, 940 in year: Spate of children's death rocks Kota

The deaths of more than 70 children this month at a government hospital in Kota district of Rajasthan has created ripples in the political circles. India Today observed that in the ICU, two to three children share a single bed -- a possible reason behind the spread of infection among the children.

Om Birla visited JK Lone Maternal and Child Hospital to take stock of the situation where 75 infants have reportedly died in the past 24 days. After the visit, Om Birla said there were systematic and infrastructural deficiencies plaguing the hospital.
