Shashi Tharoor talks Hinduism vs Hindutva at India Today Conclave 2019

Speaking at the India Today Conclave, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said that the problem with Hindutva is that it narrows Hinduism. Tharoor added that Hindutva ties Hinduism to political ideology to political ideology.

Trying to shift away from Congress indulging in politics of appeasement, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said Hinduism was quite prevalent during Nehruvian politics. He made an example by saying that when a ship is launched, instead of smashing a champagne bottle, a coconut is cracked. "Isn't this an example of Hinduism?" asked Shashi Tharoor.
