India Today Conclave 2018: Young Turks debate over identity politics

In an engaging session on Day 2 of India Today Conclave 2018 in Mumbai today over "The Young Turks: The Future of Identity Politics.

Hardik Patel accused the BJP of double speak and playing communal politics. "I go to places and I don't think any Hindu or any Muslim is in danger. When Modi became Gujarat CM, he openly identified himself as Hindu and phrases like Mia Musharraf were used in the state election."

Shehla Rashid said the Modi government is not serious about women's reservation bill providing for 33 per cent seats for women in legislatures. She also alleged that that "a BJP cabinet minister from Jammu and Kashmir attended a rally in support of a rapist" who was accused of assaulting a 12-year-old girl.
