Direct tax payers gone up to 6.75 crore in last 4 years: PM Modi

In his address to the nation on the 72nd Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the number of direct taxpayers has increased from 4 crores to 6.75 crore since 2013. He also said that since the implementation of GST (Goods and Services Tax) last year, the indirect tax base has widened.
