Nirmala Sitharaman's pregnant pause before new tax regime overhaul had Parliament waiting | Watch

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a new tax regime under which she proposed to raise the tax exemption limit to Rs 3 lakh. 

Before announcing the new tax exemption, she took a pause, drank water while Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was seen smiling. 

Under the new regime, there will be six tax slabs. She also proposed increasing the income tax rebate limit from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh.
