The Prime Minister said, 'When Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel took the oath for the reconstruction of Somnath, attempts were made to stop him too.' The BJP has also presented letters allegedly written by Nehru prohibiting assistance to the Somnath Trust. An unidentified second speaker also commented on Nehru's 'prejudiced Hindu Virodi mindset' regarding the temple's reconstruction.

India has reiterated that the Shaksgam Valley is Indian territory and that it has never recognised the 1963 China–Pakistan boundary agreement.
