Iran’s hardline judiciary chief, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, has personally interrogated protesters detained in a sweeping crackdown, heightening international concern over the use of forced confessions.
State television broadcast footage of Ejei questioning detainees accused of being "rioters," including two women shown with blurred faces who broke down in tears. A former intelligence minister sanctioned by the EU and US, Ejei also spent hours inside a Tehran prison reviewing protest-related cases, according to state media.
