Watch: Virat Kohli arrives in Mumbai ahead of South Africa ODI series

Virat Kohli has arrived in Mumbai as he prepares for his next assignment, the three-match ODI series against South Africa. The Indian batting icon enters the series with some confidence after scoring an unbeaten 74 in the final ODI against Australia in Sydney. Since retiring from T20Is and Test cricket, Kohli has featured only in the 50-over format, and fans will be eager to see the chasemaster in action once again.

India will face South Africa in Ranchi, Raipur and Visakhapatnam. The team will hope to reset after a difficult period in red-ball cricket. The Test side lost the opening match in Kolkata and is now staring at another series defeat under Gautam Gambhir’s coaching stint. India needs more than 500 runs on the final day of the second Test in Guwahati to avoid consecutive losses at home.

The ODI squad also comes with changes. Newly appointed ODI captain Shubman Gill has been ruled out due to injury. KL Rahul will take charge as the stand-in skipper, a role he has fulfilled several times before. His focus will be on steadying the side and bringing clarity after a turbulent few weeks for Indian cricket.

For Kohli, the series offers a timely opportunity to reaffirm his importance in a format where he remains one of the most consistent performers in world cricket. His experience, ability to absorb pressure and knack for controlling chases will be vital as India looks to regain momentum. With a fresh challenge ahead and a hungry South African side on the other end, Kohli will be keen to set the tone with the bat and help India return to winning ways.
