Bhai, I am really tired: Mohammed Siraj's brother recalls chat with gladiatorial pacer

In an exclusive interview with Rajdeep Sardesai, Mohammed Ismail, brother of Mohammed Siraj, spoke about the Indian pacer's relentless 'never die' attitude - shaped in the streets of Hyderabad - and his rise from tennis-ball cricket to the highest level of the game.

Ismail reflected on Siraj's deep admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo and the unwavering support he received from Virat Kohli, especially during tough phases in his career. "He backed me when I was down. He backed me when my performance was not up to the mark," Siraj had once told his brother.

He also recalled a defining moment in Siraj's life - the 2021 Australia tour - when the pacer lost his father but chose to stay back and play for India, fulfilling his late father's dream of seeing his son represent the country.

Speaking after Siraj's heroics helped India draw the five-match Test series against England 2-2, Ismail shared a brief conversation he had with his brother: "Yes, I spoke to him just a while ago. I congratulated him on behalf of my whole family. He was very, very happy. He was on the bus with the team, on their way to the hotel. He said, 'Bhai, I'm really tired. My body is totally exhausted.' But still, he wants to win matches for the country," Ismail told India Today in an exclusive interaction.
