Earlier, in a dominant bowling display, England bundled out Sri Lanka for 219 in 49.3 overs. With the target set at just 220, the momentum is certainly with England heading into the break. Sri Lanka will need early breakthroughs to defend this modest total, while England will look to chase this down comfortably. Stay tuned as the players return to the field for the second innings.

The English bowling attack was brilliant, keeping the pressure on throughout the mix. Interestingly, they utilized eight different bowlers to mix things up. Jamie Overton and Adil Rashid were the stars with the ball, picking up two wickets each to break key partnerships. Joe Root as well bowled extremely well in the death over and claimed two wickets as well. The rest of the attack supported well, with Liam Dawson, Will Jacks, and Rehan Ahmed all chipping in with a wicket apiece to restrict the scoring rate.

Sri Lanka have finished their innings with a below-par total of 219 runs! After losing Kamil Mishara early, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis tried to rebuild with a 42-run partnership, but a quick double-wicket blow left them reeling at 68/3. Dhananjaya de Silva (40) and Charith Asalanka (45) steadied the ship with a gritty 66-run stand, and Pavan Rathnayake played a handy cameo of 29 late in the innings. However, the lower order couldn't offer much resistance, leaving the team short of a competitive score.

Strong application is needed from DDS and Charith Asalanka to take the game deep and help Lanka post something around 240-250 mark.

England skipper Harry Brook mentioned that the team must adapt to the conditions as swiftly as possible, anticipating a similar playing surface to the first ODI. He emphasized the importance of strike rotation as frequently as possible. Brook expressed disappointment with the recent results, particularly the number of games lost away from home. Regarding team changes, he confirmed that Zak Crawley is injured, and that Will Jacks will replace him and slot into the middle order, while Rehan Ahmed will open the innings.

Sri Lanka captain, Charith Asalanka, confirmed his team's decision to bat first, noting that all three departments performed well in the previous match and expressing his desire for a strong start in this game as well. He highlighted the fielding as the most pleasing aspect of their last performance, praising Kusal Mendis' mature innings and Dunith Wellalage's effective final over with the bat as well. Asalanka stated they are fielding an unchanged side for the match and believes a score between 270-280 would be competitive.
