After taking down Harshit Rana, Mitchell Owen rips apart Axar Patel.

After the breakthrough, things have gone horribly wrong with Harshit Rana. He has been hit for two sixes and a boundary in 7 balls after that.

Harshit Rana and Mohammed Siraj redeem themselves.

 Matt Short and Coopper Connolly drilled the pacer for boundaries, but Rana hits back with a wicket. Surprise bouncer on the body. Matt Short takes it on and Mohammed Siraj takes a composed catch at the midwicket boundary.

Big reprieve for Siraj, given he had dropped Short at 55 runs.

India are in the game despite leaking some runs in the last few overs.

Young left-hander Cooper Connolly, who has not played a lot of ODI cricket has settled in nicely. Connolly is taking on fuller balls and driving them safely on the ground.

Australia are clearly taking the game deep, ticking off runs one by one. More they take off the required runs, the more pressure will be on India.

Seeing that they need a breakthrough, India have brought in Harshit Rana in the 34th over.

But what was an absolute sitter of a catch has been fumbled significantly by Mohammed Siraj. 

Dropped on 55, and every Indian player on the field had a disappointed look on their face. But, none is as prominent as the one Siraj has.

The switch has worked out for India. 

Shubman Gill breaks up the Arshdeep-Axar barrage and brings Washington Sundar into the attack, and he bags the wicket of Alex Carey in the final ball of his over. 

India needed this breakthrough, as the Short-Carey partnership was starting to gain some dangerous stability.

Matt Short continues to give resilience to Australia in this 265 chase, as he completes a steady 48-ball fifty. 

This partnership has started to take some dangerous shape for India, and Shubman Gill would want to break this up as soon as possible. 

The Australia batters are now slowly getting used to the Arshdeep-Axar switch.

While initially the pace to spin switch kept Short and Carey from attempting any gutsy shot, the Australia duo are now finding consistent rhythm again.

A glimpse of the past guiding the present

Rohit Sharma was spotted sharing a quick fielding tip with captain Shubman Gill, who immediately nodded and pushed his long-on fielder a few yards back.

A clinical over from Arshdeep Singh and the Australia batters - Short and Carey are not risking too much of anything at the moment. 

Shubman Gill knows that there are not many runs on the board to defend, so he would want to keep building on the pressure on Australia with more wickets. 

Another spin switch likely, Axar being handed the ball.

A big big wicket for India. Axar Patel outfoxes Matt Renshaw and India finally have a wicket after nearly 10 overs.

This was building up to be a good partnership, but Axar Patel makes sure that the damage is controlled.

Australia are looking comfortable in the middle. The lateral movement has died out and the pitch looks like a decent one to bat one.

But both Matts - Renshaw and Short need to be commended for their sensible batting. When boundaries are difficult to come, they are dealing well in singles.
