As India continues to celebrate its sixth Under-19 World Cup title, the BCCI announced a Rs 7.5 crore cash reward for the champions. The prize comes after India’s unbeaten run and emphatic 100-run win over England in the final on February 6 at Harare Sports Club.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed the reward soon after the Ayush Mhatre-led side's triumph over England on Friday, with BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia praising the team’s dominant campaign. Speaking after India’s title win, Saikia said the board was proud of how the young side delivered under pressure on the biggest stage.

“The whole country and BCCI are proud of our Under-19 side on their Under-19 World Cup 2026 victory. The way our team defeated England in the finals, and how they remained undefeated in the tournament, we are all proud. The BCCI will reward the team with Rs 7.5 crore cash prize,” Saikia said.

How did India win the U19 World Cup 2026?

India’s win in the final was built around a massive batting effort led by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Under captain Ayush Mhatre, India piled up a colossal 411 for 9, putting England under immediate pressure in a record chase.

Sooryavanshi was the standout performer, smashing a stunning 175 that turned the title clash into a one-sided contest. The left-hander reached his century in just 55 balls, the second-fastest hundred in Under-19 World Cup history, after already racing to a 32-ball fifty. He then produced an even quicker second burst, bringing up his next fifty in only 23 deliveries as England struggled for answers.

Chasing 412, England never truly settled despite a fighting century from Caleb Falconer. India’s bowlers kept striking at regular intervals, ensuring the chase never gathered momentum, before England were bowled out for 311.
