India vs Sri Lanka Highlights, 4th Women's T20I: India overcome valiant Sri Lanka to make it 4-0

A run fest in Trivandrum as Sri Lanka put on a fight against India. Chamari Athapaththu and Hasini Perera's partnership gave them the platform but the target started to slip away as the wickets started to fall. Vaishnavi Sharma's two wickets changed the game for the hosts and Arundhati also contributed. The fielding was still below par and India will need to sort things out with just one game remaining. A small worry for Smriti Mandhana at the end but Harmanpreet will be happy to see her side get the win. 

IND vs SL 4th WT20I: India (221/2) beat Sri Lanka (191/6 in 20 ovs) by 30 runs. Chamari (52), Vaishnavi (2/24).

So we get a wicket here with Kavisha holing out to the substitute Kamilini but the fielding is still an issue for the Indian side. The very next ball, Arundhati could have got another wicket, but Deepti Sharma drops it and ball heads to the boundary. Nilakshika puts salts on the wounds with a couple of boundaries. India may have the win here, but fielding needs to improve massively. 

IND vs SL, 4th WT20I Live: Sri Lanka 183/5 after 19 overs (Rashmika 5*, Nilakshika 21*)     

This doesn't look good here, Smriti Mandhana has gone off the field with what seems like an injury. After dropping the catch and sending the ball back to the bowler, she seems to have pulled a muscle in the hamstring area and is now back in the dugout. India have almost sealed the contest and it will be interesting to see if they will risk their star batter in the final game. 

IND vs SL, 4th WT20I Live: Sri Lanka 170/4 after 18 overs (Kaveesha 11*, Nilakshika 13)     

She has often been unlucky during the series, but tonight Vaishnavi is turning on the heat as she dismisses Harshitha. The Sri Lankan goes for a big shot and misses the delivery completely. Richa completes the stumping and the youngster celebrates with her skipper with a new handshake. 

She could have got another one, but Smriti drops it near the boundary.

Imesha started off brilliantly and then her innings just fell apart. The Sri Lankan batter tries to go for a second but Amanjot's throw is brilliant and it gives her no chance to make it. Kaveesha comes in to join Harshitha at the crease but the target seems to be further slipping away from the visitors.

Is that actually the end of the chase for Sri Lanka? Vaishnavi has frustrated the Sri Lankan skipper throughout the day as the Indian spinner has given her nothing to work with. Chamari tries to manufacture a shot and holes out in the deep as India break the partnership.

The required rate is above 14 at the moment and despite Charani conceding 10 in her first over, the required rate is 14. Chamari gets to her fifty in 34 balls, but needs support from the other end. For India, the singles won't be an issue but they will target the wicket of the Sri Lankan skipper now.

Renuka Singh has struggled for line and length in this game and concedes 11 in the 10th over. She almost got the wicket of Chamari, but the ball bounces just short of Vaishnavi. The Sri Lankan captain remains the big hope for her side in the contest as they look to script a record chase.

The middle overs have been the major issue for Sri Lanka during this series. But with a lot of dew on the field, they're slowly capitalising with another partnership. Chamari welcomes Amanjot to the crease with a huge six and she will need to kick on for the visitors to have a chance to chase this score down.

The partnership of 59 comes to an end as Hasini Perera's attempt to clear the infield is unsuccessful and she sends it straight to Harmanpreet. Sri Lanka have got a platform and set and the other batters cannot afford to slow down now. For India, another wicket will see them be on top.

Deepti Sharma comes on to stem the run flow, but gets hit for a six and a boundary by Chamari Athapaththu. Renuka Singh has a change of ends and she gets welcomed by Hasini Perera with two boundaries as the fifty comes up in quick time.

Arundhati Reddy replaced Kranti Goud but the start is far from ideal. Chamari Athapaththu got a boundary to start things and the Indian pacer then concedes a no-ball. Hasini puts the free hit to the boundary and the line is just off at the moment. The over ends with a boundary and 17 comes off it.

The chase is underway and Hasini Perera begins with a boundary. A bit wayward from Renuka and the Sri Lankan opener takes full advantage of it. But the Indian pacer makes a quick adjustment to have the next two balls to end up as dots. Hasini then goes straight down the ground for another boundary. She cuts away and adds another one and the start is brilliant for the visitors.

IND vs SL, 4th WT20I Live: India 221/2 after 20 overs (Richa Ghosh 40*, Harmanpreet Kaur 16*)

India finish with a record-breaking 221 for 2, their highest total in Women’s T20Is, after being asked to bat first — and for Sri Lanka, choosing to field has turned into an absolute nightmare.

From the word go, it was one-way traffic. Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana tore into the bowling, piling on a massive 162-run opening stand, and by then Sri Lanka were already staring at a mountain too steep to climb.

If that wasn’t enough, Richa Ghosh walked in and rubbed salt into the wounds, blasting a whirlwind cameo that sent the total soaring past the 220 mark.

The conditions are good for batting, no doubt, but Sri Lanka will need to conjure up something truly miraculous — especially given their current form — if they are to even get close to reining in this imposing Indian total.

IND vs SL, 4th WT20I Live: India 207/2 after 19 overs (Richa Ghosh 39*, Harmanpreet Kaur 5*)

23 runs off the 19th over, Richa Ghosh has teed off here. 

Richa Ghosh completely tore apart the penultimate over, turning it into a personal highlight reel.

After surviving a close lbw review, she unleashed brute power, smashing three towering sixes by repeatedly clearing her front leg and going straight down the ground.

A short, wide delivery was carved through covers for four as well, as Ghosh plundered 22 runs, leaving Sri Lanka shell-shocked and India firmly in control at the death.

Richa Ghosh has played a nice little cameo with trademark aggression, freeing her arms to smash Meepage for a boundary over long-on and then threading another four through the off-side.

She swept firmly to keep the scoreboard ticking and rode her luck on the fifth ball, when a miscued loft was put down at long-off. Ghosh then smartly rotated strike, maintaining pressure and momentum for India in the death overs.

IND vs SL, 4th WT20I Live: India 172/2 after 17 overs (Richa Ghosh 7*, Harmanpreet Kaur 2*) 

Another blow for India late in the innings, and Smriti Mandhana misses out on a well-deserved century, falling for 80.

It’s good bowling from Shehani that does the trick. Tossed up outside off and turning away, Mandhana has to reach for it from well outside her comfort zone.

She goes for the big shot, gets a top-edge that balloons straight up, and Dulani at square leg completes the catch to bring an end to a classy knock.

A wicket at last for Sri Lanka, and you can sense the relief spreading across their faces. Meepage floats it up gently on off stump, Shafali Verma gets stuck in the crease and checks her shot a fraction too late — straight back to the bowler. Meepage makes no mistake, a simple return catch, and the long wait is finally over for Sri Lanka.

But what an innings this has been from Shafali. A blistering 79 off just 46 balls, packed with power, intent and authority. She’s set the tone, broken the bowlers’ rhythm, and given India a platform of real dominance. A standing ovation-worthy knock comes to an end.

IND vs SL, 4th WT20I Live: India 149/0 after 14 overs (Smriti Mandhana 72*, Shafali Verma 73*) 

Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma rewrite the record books, bringing up the highest opening partnership for India in Women’s T20Is. They surge past their own mark of 143 set against the West Indies back in 2019 at Gros Islet, and this one has been built with even more authority.

What dominance this has been at the death — 74 runs coming in the last five overs. The bowlers have had absolutely no respite, the field spread, the pressure relentless.

Mandhana’s elegance combined with Shafali’s raw power has left the opposition gasping, and India are well and truly in command as the innings races towards a towering finish.
