On Thursday, ISRO released visuals showing the rover Pragyan rotating "in search of a safe route".
"The rover was rotated in search of a safe route. The rotation was captured by a Lander Imager Camera. It feels as though a child is playfully frolicking in the yards of Chandamama, while the mother watches affectionately. Isn't it?" ISRO said.
India took a "walk on the Moon" with the successful deployment of the Pragyan rover on the lunar surface on August 24. Chandrayaan-3 is a follow-on mission to Chandrayaan-2 to demonstrate end-to-end capability in safe landing and roving on the lunar surface. It consists of Lander and Rover configurations.
The mission objectives of Chandrayaan-3 include demonstrating Rover roving on the moon and conducting in-situ scientific experiments.
The successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 makes India the fourth country to soft land on the Moon, after the United States, the Soviet Union, and China. The successful mission made India the first nation to have a rover deployed on the unchartered Moon's south pole. The Pragyan rover is expected to operate for one lunar day, which is about 14 Earth days.

On this Special Report, the focus is on the shifting political landscape in Tamil Nadu as TTV Dinakaran, leader of the AMMK, officially rejoins the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Union Minister and BJP poll in charge Piyush Goyal expressed his delight at the move, stating, 'All of us in the NDA are all committed to removing this corrupt DMK government, this incompetent DMK government which is attacking the people of Tamil Nadu'. Goyal highlighted his long-standing family connection with Dinakaran and emphasised that the united front aims to protect 'Tamil pride' and defeat the 'anti-Bharat' DMK-led alliance. The transcript details the strategic negotiations involving the BJP, AMMK, and AIADMK, with Dinakaran reportedly seeking 11 seats. Despite past friction with AIADMK chief Edappadi K. Palaniswami, Dinakaran stated he is 'burying the hatchet' for the state's welfare. The programme explores how this 'Greater NDA' intends to consolidate forces to end what they term the 'tyrannical rule' of Chief Minister MK Stalin.
In this news report, the focus is on the Madras High Court's Madurai Bench ruling regarding Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin's 2023 remarks on Sanatana Dharma. The court observed that the comments constituted 'hate speech' and represented a 'clear attack on Hinduism,' noting that the phrasing implied 'genocide or culturicide.' DMK Organization Secretary T.K.S. Elangovan defended the Deputy CM, stating, 'It is not a hate speech,' and argued that the remarks were an inquiry into the definition of Sanatana Dharma. Conversely, critics and opposition leaders welcomed the court's observations, accusing the DMK of fostering anti-Hindu sentiments for vote-bank politics. The court also quashed a case against BJP's Amit Malviya, ruling his social media response did not constitute hate speech. Despite the judicial rebuke, the DMK remains firm, with Udhayanidhi Stalin reportedly refusing to apologize for his statements while facing multiple legal challenges.
On this India Today report, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has intensified his criticism of the Central Government regarding the proposed delimitation exercise. He described the move as a 'demographic punishment' for southern states that successfully implemented population control and human development programmes. Siddaramaiah argued that states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala should not lose political representation as a penalty for their success in health, education, and women's empowerment. He highlighted that while Uttar Pradesh and Bihar might gain over 20 seats, southern states face a significant reduction in their political voice. The Chief Minister has called for a meeting of all southern CMs to form a united front against the exercise, asserting that representation must not become a reward for failure. Meanwhile, the BJP has dismissed these claims, with MLA Mahesh Tenginkai accusing the Chief Minister of misleading the public for political gain. India Today's Sagay Raj provides further insights into the growing apprehensions across southern India regarding political marginalisation.
