Political war erupts over rising fuel prices, Opposition calls it 'Modi tax'

A political war has erupted as petrol and diesel prices were hiked for eight straight days. The opposition has called it 'Modi tax' in the form of excise duty while the govt has linked it to global market forces.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted out accusing the govt of looting its citizens. He tweeted in Hindi: "Janta se loot, sirf 'do' ka vikaas."

Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera too slammed the govt over hike in fuel prices.
