Milind Deora to India Today: 'The real Shiv Sena is very clearly the one led by Eknath Shinde'

Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora speaks to India Today following the Mahayuti alliance's performance in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. Deora asserts that the debate over the 'real' Shiv Sena has been settled by the voters in favour of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. He highlights that the BMC, with an annual budget of approximately ₹75,000-76,000 crore—surpassing that of several Indian states—has seen its first major leadership change in 30 years. Deora criticises the opposition's 'emotional' campaign and the alliance of the Thackeray cousins, suggesting that voters have prioritised infrastructure and governance over dynasty politics. He emphasizes the need for Mumbai to aspire to global standards, competing with international hubs like Dubai and Singapore. The MP also notes that the alignment of power between the BMC, the state, and the Centre will lead to better coordination and transparency for India's commercial capital.
