Growing anti-Congress sentiments in Andhra Pradesh

After being ditched by the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), the Congress is in for another setback from a potential ally for its 'grand alliance' (Mahagathbandhan).

Sources in the N Chandrababu Naidu-led Telugu Desam Party (TDP) said the party is in no mood to join hands with the Congress for the Lok Sabha and state assembly elections.

Speaking to India Today TV, senior leaders in the TDP, on condition of anonymity, said the party wants to fight the upcoming elections on its own. They said the party feels that there is a "negative perception" about the Congress in Andhra Pradesh. Hence, the party would like to go solo in the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
