Russia-Ukraine war: Putin demands surrender of Mariupol to end shelling

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that the surrender of Ukrainian forces in the besieged city of Mariupol is the pre-condition for Russia to cease shelling it.

The Russian President said this during a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday night.

While French officials said Putin agreed to consider plans to evacuate civilians from the city, it is unclear what Putin's next move will be. To know more, watch Newstrack with Shiv Aroor.
