WATCH: Haseena Parkar to Daddy to Satya, Bollywood's gangster films

With Shraddha Kapoor's Haseena Parkar and Arjun Rampal's Daddy, B-Town will revisit the gangster film genre once again in 2017. And today on In Da Club, we revisit Hindi cinema's most iconic smoking guns - the ultimate unforgettable gangster films.

If Shraddha Kapoor will bring the life of Haseena Parkar (Dawood Ibrahim's sister) on screen with her next, Arjun Rampal will essay the role of gangster Arun Gawli in Daddy. However, before these films hit the big screen, we take a look at gangster films that redefined the genre in Bollywood.

The first actor who made the gangster look cool was none other than the original angry young man - Amitabh Bachchan. Big B's towering personality gave don a life of its own. He personified the western styled Indian gangster who gets away with the women, the cars and the money.

But Bachchan's best was yet to come. In 1990, we saw him play a persecuted boy turned gangster Vijay Deenanath Chauhan in Agneepath. A cult gangster flick, the film also won Bachchan his first National Award for Best Actor.

Next in line was Bollywood's original Bad boy Sanjay Dutt in Subhash Ghai's 1993 blockbuster Khalnayak. Ironically, Dutt had spent 2 weeks in jail prior to the release of the film in connection with the 1993 Mumbai serial blast case.

While Bachchan's Agneepath and Dutt's Khalnayak were quintessential bollywood formula films, director Ram Goapl Varma initiated the second coming of the alternate cinema movement with his raw and riveting gangster edge-of-the-seat gangster thriller Satya. The film was a game changer in every sense of the word.

All this and much more on the latest episode of In Da Club.
