Holiday season curbs: States impose night curfews, ban mass gatherings amid Omicron scare

As India witnesses an uptick of coronavirus cases, several states imposed a night curfew to keep a check on the spread of the virulent disease. On Sunday, 31 new cases of the Omicron variant were reported from Maharashtra, while Kerala reported 19 more cases. Delhi imposed a night curfew from 11pm till from 5 am which will come into effect on Monday. Karnataka announced a night curfew in the state from 10 pm to 5 am for 10 days with effect from December 28. Other states, including Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat have also imposed night curfews.
