India Fights COVID-19: Genome Sequencing to Study New Coronavirus Strains

A study done by CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) found that at least one strain N440K was spreading much more in Southern India. The Government however said that the new variants have been detected in Maharashtra and Kerala but underscored that it is not leading to a spike in cases there.
