The Kerala Story director Sudipto Sen reacts to negative response to film, says 'if you focus on hate then...'

Sudipto Sen's directorial, The Kerala Story, has triggered protests and debates as the calls to ban the film in the state have intensified. The film, featuring Adah Sharma in the lead, is slated to release in theatres on May 5. The Kerala Story is at the centre of a storm after the trailer of the movie claimed that 32,000 girls from the state went missing and later joined the terrorist group, ISIS.

Amid the strong backlash, during a chat with India Today TV, Sen shared that their focus during the making was primarily on bringing out the truth, rather than concentrating on the negative aspects. "As a filmmaker, we give our 100 percent. And at times, it is even more. When we were making the film, we did not want to get more into the negativity of what others are saying. We made a film and I think we did a good job. Why do we even focus on negativity.”
