Mumbai Police have initiated legal action against the location manager of the film Dhurandhar 2 for operating a drone without mandatory permission in the high-security Fort locality of South Mumbai. The case was registered on February 1 at the MRA Marg police station, following alleged violations during the film's ongoing shoot.

According to officials, a first information report (FIR) was filed against Rinku Rajpal Valmiki under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for "willful disobedience to lawful orders of authority," as cited in the complaint. Police documents indicate that the crew failed to secure the required permissions before deploying aerial equipment for filming sequences.

The use of unmanned aerial vehicles in the Fort area is strictly regulated due to its proximity to significant government and financial institutions. The area is routinely monitored, and any breach of airspace regulations is treated with seriousness by law enforcement agencies.

Authorities stated that trouble began when the entire crew, including actor Sanjay Dutt, gathered for filming on February 1. This date marked the third day of shooting for Dhurandhar 2 in the region. The police intervention came after observing unauthorised drone activity during this schedule.

From January 30, the production team had transformed parts of the historic Fort complex to resemble a vibrant old street of Pakistan as part of the film’s set design. The large-scale transformation drew attention from both local residents and security personnel due to the alteration of the public space.

Upon identifying the drone use, officers issued a notice to the location manager, who was subsequently allowed to leave after the formalities were completed. The FIR, however, remains active and further investigation is underway to assess the extent of the violation.

The police emphasised the need for strict compliance with regulations governing the use of drones and other recording devices in restricted zones.

No additional arrests or detentions were reported in connection with the incident. The Mumbai Police are continuing to monitor filming activities in high-security zones to enforce compliance and ensure public safety.
