The upcoming Golmaal 5 is expected to feature Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, and the familiar cast members Arshad Warsi, Kunal Kemmu, Sharman Joshi, and Tusshar Kapoor. As per reports, Shetty aimed to reimagine the story of Do Aur Do Paanch within the Golmaal universe, providing a new perspective while retaining the comedic essence that has defined the franchise.

Following the reports, the director's team issued a clarification that read, "We wish to issue a strict clarification regarding certain news reports currently circulating across online and digital media platforms claiming that Golmaal 5 is inspired by or based on the film `Do Aur Do Paanch'. We categorically state that these reports are factually incorrect, misleading and completely untrue. We strongly request all media houses, publications, portals, and digital platforms to refrain from publishing or circulating unverified information. Security measures have become a central focus for the film's production after gunshots were fired outside Shetty's Juhu home. Mumbai Police responded by increasing protection at his residence and are now planning to extend these precautions to the film set. The production team is preparing for a robust security presence, involving both local police and Shetty's personal security, to ensure the safety of the cast and crew.

The news of the franchise emerged online after a Bollywood Hungama report claimed that Rohit Shetty is planning to reinterpret the classic comedy Do Aur Do Paanch, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor, in the signature style of his Golmaal franchise. A source close to the development said the Singham director has long drawn inspiration from classic Hindi comedies and has often infused their elements into the Golmaal series.

Production on Golmaal 5 is scheduled to begin by the end of February at Film City, Mumbai, with the makers eyeing a theatrical release in early 2027.

Golmaal 5 will also mark the sixth collaboration between Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, following Suhaag (1994), Khakee (2004), Insan (2005), Sooryavanshi (2021) and Singham Again (2024).

Director Rohit Shetty is currently in the final stages of his Rakesh Maria biopic starring John Abraham, after which he is set to begin work on Golmaal 5. Ajay Devgn, meanwhile, is occupied with the shoot of Drishyam 3, while Akshay Kumar is expected to join the project once he wraps up Anees Bazmee’s comedy film with Vidya Balan. Akshay is also scheduled to start Bhaagam Bhaag 2, directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, later this year.
