Coolie
Amitabh Bachchan plays Iqbal. He is a dashing, confident young man and considered the leader of the local coolies. He organises a labor strike, which brings the station to its knees. The film became famous even before its release when Amitabh got critically injured during a fight scene with co-star Puneet Issar, which almost cost him his life.

Shehenshah
Big B is dressed in a costume of a crime fighter who has a left iron hand which is used to attack enemies and smash objects, and Shahenshah's other weapon is a noose

Amitabh Bachchan plays Narayan Shankar who runs a university Gurukul. Narayan wants the best out of his students so places an emphasis on honour, tradition and discipline.

Amitabh Bachchan as Subhash Nagre, who is known by his followers as Sarkar. The black and white shots include intense close-ups of Amitabh, his cup of tea, and the rudraksh beads hanging from his hand.

The film revolves around a blind and deaf girl played by Rani Mukerji, and her relationship with her teacher Debraj Sahai (Amitabh Bachchan) who himself later develops Alzheimer's disease. Debraj sees himself as a magician and is a disillusioned eccentric man.
