</div></p><p><strong>FASHION AND DESIGN: A STYLISH STATEMENT </strong></p><p>From apparel to accessories to automobiles, ideating and implementing designs is big today. A career in fashion and design might be an option if you are creative enough to combine colours, shades and textures, visualise new design, and express your ideas through sketches. A four-year undergraduate programme is offered in fashion, industrial, interior and communication design at several universities. Most of the design schools offer the foundation programme that helps students to develop design thinking abilities, understand the multidisciplinary nature of design, and the relationship of design with the environment, culture, human senses and emotions. As a degree programme, the course encompasses working on multiple projects and case theories. You can choose this field if you are good at number crunching and understand the intricacies of financing, accounting and auditing. The chartered accountancy course is offered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). So, it's one stream of education which is career oriented, challenging and creative." The threeyear degree course aims at introducing all kinds of media careers-print, television, online, advertising, and public relations to a student. Hence, experiential learning along with classroom and online resources need to be blended seamlessly. A student must also have a strong industry-ready portfolio showcasing published work, a personal blogspot, a documentary produced and research work undertaken to make sure he/she is ready to take on real life journalistic assignment. Most courses require students to do at least one internship with any media organisation.
