Money Doesn t Make the World Go Round

THE CAUSES FOR A RAPIDLY increasing divorce rate are manifold ("The Nowhere Brides", October 12). Today's youth is increasingly forgetting that marriage is a sacred bond in Indian culture. The dowry menace, the circulation of black money and a materialistic attitude are all contributing factors that have led to this decay in value systems. As a result of these monetary marriages, a number of women have had to face abandonment and ostracism, their children often left at the mercy of an uncertain future. Society desperately needs to be rid of this disease.
