It is keeping its head down, playing it cool and hoping things will set themselves right. Neither the Ghauri issue nor the storm unleashed by George Fernandes over China seems to have fazed it.</p><p>Almost forgotten is the issue of the appointment of envoys to fill the vacancies arising from the resignation of six political appointees of the previous United Front government, prominent among them being Salman Haidar in the UK and L.C. Jain in South Africa.<br><br>According to officials in the Ministry of External Affairs, their resignations are now in and "under consideration" in the Prime Minister's Office. There is some speculation, however, that the Prime Minister will act only after the budget session of Parliament. </p><p>However, sceptics argue that by then most of them would have served six months and more and the resultant pressure to continue with them may well lead to their retaining their jobs.
