Kamal Khan realised early that his family legacy of folk music will not be a paying proposition and decided to learn carpentry. He used to earn Rs 500 a day and lived in a two-room house in Anjaiah Nagar with his wife, three school-going sons, school-going nephew and niece, and a jobless younger brother.
