<li>Only 5 in 30 states have an urban population of over 50 per cent. These are Delhi, Puducherry, Goa, Mizoram and Tamil Nadu.</li>
<li>Among the big states, Punjab, with a yield of 4,017kg per hectare, is the top farmer of the country while Maharashtra, with a yield of just 940 kg per hectare, is the worst.</li></ul></p><p><strong>The other top two states are:</strong></p><p>DELHI: 3,405kg/hectare<br>HARYANA: 3,393kg/hectare</p><ul>
<li>Large troubled states have the worst policemen to population ratio. Bihar has 50 policemen per 1 lakh people, the lowest in India.</li>
<li>Education needs special attention in Bihar with only 1 out of 3 children over 10 completing studies.</li>
<li>Goa records the highest per capita income in the country with Rs 1,07,245 while in Bihar, it is a measly Rs 11,403, the lowest.</li>
<li>Populism is showing up in red as the debt burden of the states rises.</li>
<li>While Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Mizoram and Nagaland, with less than 899 women per 1,000 men, have the worst gender ratio, Kerala, Goa, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu figure at the top.</li>
<li>With 12,55,881 cases still pending,Maharashtra fares the worst in terms of disposal of cases.</li>
<li>In terms of GSDP, Maharashtra is the richest state in the country while Sikkim is the poorest.</li>
<li>At 39.9%, Orissa has the highest percentage of population below the poverty line.</li>
