21 gun salute for PM Modi at Joint Base Andrews in Washington

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was accorded a ceremonial welcome at Joint Base Andrews in Washington DC on his arrival on Wednesday. Drenched in rain, the prime minister stood for the national anthem as guards orchestrated the band to honour the Indian PM. Taking to Twitter, he later attributed the showers as blessings of "Indra Devta".

At the invitation of Joe Biden, PM Modi reached the US for his first state visit. He reached the capital city of the US after celebrating International Yoga Day at the UN Headquarters.

PM Modi later was greeted with a wholesome reception near his hotel in Washington. Amid chants of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai', PM Modi interacted with the Indian diaspora.
