Unnao rape case: Supreme Court stays Kuldeep Singh Sengar's bail

The Supreme Court has stayed the Delhi High Court's order suspending the sentence of Unnao rape convict Kuldeep Singh Sengar. Reacting to the order, the victim's lawyer, Mehmood Pracha, stated, 'I am not calling this a victory. This is a small chance for the victim and her family to breathe.' Pracha criticized the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for failing to make the victim a party in the petition, alleging the agency only acted to 'save face' after public outcry. He described Sengar as a member of an 'Indian Epstein gang' and highlighted the severe threats faced by the survivor, including the loss of her father and aunts. The programme explores the legal nuances of the case, with Pracha arguing that the CBI's grounds were limited compared to the stronger arguments the victim's counsel could have presented had they been consulted.
