'Pop sleeping pills and attend Parliament': Akali leader's jibe as MPs suspended

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Tuesday slammed the Centre over the suspension of 49 MPs from Lok Sabha, and said that they (the government) want to make this (Parliament) the graveyard of democracy.
"I have no words. What did they think before constructing this new Parliament building? They want to make this the graveyard of democracy...You have thrown out the entire Opposition. No action has been taken against the MP who issued passes (to the security breach accused). A new rule is being set for the new Parliament - have sleeping pills and come here as you are not allowed to open your mouth and ask questions...," Harsimrat Kaur Badal said.
As many as 49 more Lok Sabha MPs were suspended on Tuesday, adding to a growing list of disciplinary actions taken against lawmakers. The move brought the total number of suspended MPs to 141. This follows the suspension of an unprecedented 78 MPs from both Houses of Parliament a day before.
