Toll booth workers at the Pali - Desuri Mega Highway brutally assaulted a man for refusing to pay toll fees on Friday night.

The man, Champadas Vaishnav, at the receiving end of the brutal assault, is a sarpanch of Dudapura. Vaishnav refused to pay toll money for taveling for eight kilometres which led to the brutal assault on him.

The heated exchange and the assault involving the sarpanch and the toll booth workers was captured on camera.

The Dudapura sarpanch had reached the Desuri toll plaza at 7:30 PM on Friday. He refused to pay toll for travelling eight kilometres and had a lengthy and heated exchange with the toll booth employees.

Mamata Banerjee Appears In Supreme Court To Challenge SIR Process In West Bengal

On this Special Report, the focus is on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's personal appearance in the Supreme Court regarding the Special Interim Revision (SIR) process. Reporter Nalini Sharma details how Banerjee, a trained advocate, has sought permission to argue her own case challenging the Election Commission of India's (ECI) directives. Senior Advocate Shyam Divan, representing Banerjee, argued that 'there are a lot of people in West Bengal who were issued notices by the Election Commission of India for minor discrepancies' and expressed fears of mass disenfranchisement. The plea seeks to quash ECI orders from June and October 2025, alleging that the exercise is being used for citizenship determination rather than simple voter verification. The Supreme Court had previously warned that citizenship determination lies solely with the Government of India, not the ECI. The hearing continues as the court examines whether names from the 2022 electoral rolls are being unfairly targeted for deletion ahead of the assembly elections.
