Exclusive: Dr Pradeep Awate details steps taken to contain spread of Zika after first case in Maharashtra

Speaking to India Today, state health dept surveillance officer Dr Pradeep Awate said the first Zika virus patient in Maharashtra was from a tiny village called Belsar in Pune district's Purandar tehsil. The patient has completely recovered and no one in her family has any symptoms. The state's quick response team visited the area on Saturday and spoke to local residents about the precautions they must take. The health department will also conduct a door-to-door survey in seven villages neighbouring Belsar village.
