Kerala gold scam case: Swapna Suresh's bail plea rejected

A Kerala court has dismissed the bail plea of Swapna Suresh, co-accused in the gold smuggling case. Rejecting the plea, the CJM said that instant release of petitioners will hamper the progress of the investigation.

On July 5, Customs [preventive] Commissionerate, Cochin made seizure of 30 kg of 24 karat gold worth Rs 14.82 crore, at Trivandrum international airport. The consignment was camouflaged in diplomatic baggage from the UAE that is exempted from inspection, as per the Vienna convention.
