JNU professor Sucharita Sen on Tuesday said she never expected professors to be attacked in the violence that took place in JNU on Sunday evening.

She said "We thought if professors were were present, we will be able to control the situation and professors would not be attacked. But we were proved wrong. One of the first stones hit me."

When asked if she could recognised the people who attacked her, she said that their faces were covered, making it difficult to recognise. But added that she would like to believe that they were not studends of the university.

"A group of people armed with lathis and sticks attacked us. Their faces were covered so cannot recognise personally. My emotional response will be that they cannot be students from JNU. As a teacher I would like to belive that they cannot be students of my university."
