Gaurav Gogoi slams Himanta Sarma, asks why he was silent on SIT report for 6 months

In an exclusive interview with India Today. Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi responded to serious allegations made by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma regarding alleged links to Pakistan. Gogoi dismissed the claims as 'wild, baseless and bogus,' questioning why the Chief Minister waited six months to act on an SIT report if national security was at stake. He clarified that his wife worked for an international NGO funded by the UK and Netherlands, which involved a stint in Pakistan before she moved to India. Gogoi stated, 'The Chief Minister managed to make a national embarrassment of himself' by failing to provide evidence. He further countered the allegations by accusing Sarma's family of occupying 4,000 acres of land in Assam, suggesting the Pakistan narrative is a distraction from local corruption and governance failures.
