Kamal Haasan takes oath as Rajya Sabha MP in Tamil

Actor-turned-politician and Makkal Nidhi Mayam (MNM) chief Kamal Haasan made his parliamentary debut, taking his oath as a Rajya Sabha member in Tamil. This event marks a significant milestone in his political career. His nomination to the upper house of parliament came with the backing of the ruling DMK-led alliance. This followed the decision by Haasan's party to join the DMK-led bloc ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, after which Haasan was offered a choice between a Lok Sabha seat or a Rajya Sabha nomination. Following the swearing-in ceremony, MNM party workers celebrated at the party office in Chennai. Kamal Haasan is scheduled to deliver his first parliamentary speech tomorrow.
