Heavy rain and flooding hit normal life in Tamil Nadu, rescue operations underway

Heavy rain and flooding continue to paralyse lives in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu. The state authorities are now carrying out rescue operations on the war footing. According to reports, the unprecedented rainfall has now claimed around 10 lives and brought the region to a standstill leaving individuals, families and a train load of people stranded. 

Chief Minister MK Stalin met Prime Minister Modi and requested him to release Rs 2,000 crore from the National Disaster Fund to bolster the relief efforts in the state.
