Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated Sunetra Pawar on taking oath as Maharashtra’s first woman Deputy Chief Minister. He expressed confidence that Sunetra Pawar would carry forward his work and give fresh momentum to the development of Maharashtra.

Responding to wishes from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sunetra Pawar expressed gratitude and said his message strengthened her resolve. “The blessing you have given is inspiring for me. As I begin the new responsibility for the service of Maharashtra, your words have increased my confidence for the work of public welfare. The resolve to work honestly and with dedicated sentiment for the welfare of the people of the state has become even stronger because of this. Heartfelt thanks for your trust,” she said.

Sunetra Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and wife of late Ajit Pawar, has been allotted key departments including State Excise Duty, Sports and Youth Welfare, and Minorities Development & Aukaf. The redistribution follows changes in the cabinet after Ajit Pawar’s demise. Meanwhile, the crucial Planning and Finance portfolios, earlier held by Ajit Pawar, have now been taken over by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his best wishes to Sunetra Pawar as she began her tenure as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, noting that she is the first woman to hold the post. Expressing confidence in her leadership, Modi said she would work tirelessly for the welfare of the people and fulfil the vision of the late Ajit Pawar.

NCP (SCP) MP Supriya Sule met Asha Pawar, the mother of late former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, at her residence in Katewadi village.

Responding to questions on Sunetra Pawar’s oath-taking ceremony and other issues, Sule said, “Ram Krishna Hari.”

Speaking to reporters, Sule said she would be travelling to Delhi for the budget session beginning tomorrow. “I met Asha Kaki and sought her permission to go to Delhi for the budget session. She said yes, as it is the country’s budget and my presence is necessary. I am the NCP’s floor leader,” she said.
