Can't live without you: Heartbroken teen attempts suicide, livestreams on Instagram
The teenager was heartbroken over his relationship and livestreamed the attempted suicide on Instagram. A team was formed to rescue him after his location was ascertained by the police.
Heartbroken over his relationship, an 18-year-old man attempted suicide in Maharashtra's Akola district, while live-streaming the act on Instagram. The incident took place on January 21. Addressed to his purported lover, the teenager's livestream carried an emotional message, saying, "I cannot live without you...bye".
It went viral quickly, catching the attention of the police. Joint efforts by the local police and the Mumbai Cyber Cell led to the identification of the man's location.
Subsequently, a police team was formed, and a search operation was launched in coordination with social workers. Around 20 minutes later, the man was found unconscious inside a hut in a field.
He was rushed to a hospital where he was provided with immediate treatment. His condition later improved and was said to be stable. His family expressed gratitude towards the Mumbai Cyber Cell and the local police for the swift intervention in the matter.
In another recent incident, a 35-year-old man tried to die by suicide by consuming poison in a local court in Karnataka's Mangaluru. He was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife, news agency PTI reported. Two days prior to the suicide attempt, the man had allegedly attempted to strangle his wife.
The alleged strangulation attempt prompted the police to take action. Divorce proceedings were reportedly under discussion, and a case was likely to be registered.
According to officials, the man was called to a police station. Instead, he allegedly reached a local court and consumed poison before a judge there.
