A gunfight broke out in the Jopher area of Ramnagar in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district after security forces established contact with suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists.

The exchange of fire began during a hot pursuit operation launched following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.

Initial assessments suggest that atleast two Jaish terrorists are holed up at the encounter site. A joint operation involving the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies is currently underway.

Additional reinforcements have been rushed to the area, and all entry and exit routes have been sealed to prevent any escape.
